Weekend Fun

I’m a little tardy on getting this blog post completed, but I just had to share what we were up to this past Labor Day weekend…

Labor Day weekend Tom, Lauren, Josh and I went on a fun mini road trip down to The Florida Keys.  We stayed in Key Largo, which is in the middle of the Keys,  It’s not quite as far as Key West, but the drive was still long, so we have a lot of pictures like this…

Lo and I kept busy in the back seat watching Clueless and reciting every other word of the movie.  The guys were just thrilled with the entertainment we provided them…

One of the days we were there, we went to Key West.  The guys planned to go snorkeling there while we shopped, but it was raining that morning and the boats to taking you snorkeling were cancelled.  So, our first stop in Key West that morning was the Southernmost Beach Cafe for brunch.

After our delicious brunch complete with mimosas, we headed to the southern most point of the United States.

There’s Josh proudly sporting his Green Bean bracelet :)

By the afternoon, the sun came out and we were able to do a jet ski tour around Key West.  That was so much fun, but hard work!  I rode on the back of Josh’s jet ski thankfully.  The tour took us on a 22 mile loop around the island.  It was a great way to see the sights!

The weather was great on Sunday, so the guys finally got their opportunity to go snorkeling.  Instead of driving back to Key West for that, we went to John Pennekamp Park on Key Largo.  The guys were going to be gone for about 4 hours, so Lauren and I thought we’d have plenty of time to do some shopping!  We left the guys at the park, and ventured out to explore Key Largo.  Little did we know that there is practically NOTHING to do in Key Largo other than boating or snorkeling!  Their idea of shopping is a small strip mall complete with a grocery store and a Bealls Outlet.

Our first stop was Starbucks.  The Baristas laughed at us as we asked them what there was to do here.  No malls, no movie theaters, no salons open on Sundays…  We ended up have a grand ole time at Payless Shoe Source!  They were having their BOGO sale and I think we walked out of there with 6 pairs of shoes.   After Payless, we figured we’d give Bealls Outlet a try too.  We managed to have fun there too!  We had to get VERY creative to find entertainment for the afternoon.

The condo that we rented for the weekend was too far in the opposite direction to head back there, so we snuck into a near by hotel pool and laid out.  It ended up being a great afternoon!

That night, after we picked up the boys from snorkeling, we got all cleaned up and went to a nice dinner.  We tried a local place right on the water, and all our food was delicious!  The view from our table was equally as wonderful!
