Last Monday morning marked Taylor’s first day of school. At the ripe old age of 7 weeks, Taylor spent her first days away from her Mommy & Daddy. Josh and I took her to school on her first day together to see our little girl off. I got a little teary eyed dropping her off and seeing her name on her school crib. My little girl is growing up!
At first, I was really dreading all the bottle making for her days at school, but after our first week, it turned out not to be so bad. I wash them quickly when I pick her up and then Josh and I make her next day’s bottles each evening so they are ready for the morning. I’m able to still nurse her each morning and at night. It is so rewarding to be able to continue to nurse her. She’s now eating half formula/half breast milk, and I hope to be able to maintain this for her first year.
Her teachers encouraged me to call and check in on her when ever I wanted, so I took them up on that a few times her first week. It was reassuring to hear that she was happy and doing well. At the end of the day I get a report card about how she did throughout the day. I love to see when she napped, when her diaper changes were, when she ate, and what her overall mood was.
I have dreamed of the day that I get to pick up my daughter from daycare after work. I’ve wanted this for so long. The absolute best part of my day is finishing up my work and rushing back to pick up my girl! I get so excited to see her. Most times when I get there, she is happily napping and doesn't even notice I’m there. Oh well! It is just great to have her in my arms again.
I made a collage for the headboard of her school crib with our pictures on it, so she can see us when she wakes up from her naps.
I picked her up early one day and figured I could bring her home and still do a little more work, but nope, she had different plans! She got hungry, then needed a diaper change, outfit change, etc, etc! Next time, I’ll be finishing my work and then going back to get her!
I swear she grows from the time I see her in the morning to when I pick her up each afternoon! Could it be possible? She’s seemed bigger and more mature every time I pick her up!
I used to say the same thing. Natalia's 5 and I still think she grows every day that I get her from school!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter went at 7 weeks. She did great. The only thing I did was ask the child care workers not to tell me if she reached a milestone at school - ex: sitting up, crawling, walking, etc. so when I saw it could be her "first"!
ReplyDeleteI love the collage of pictures on her crib, that is so cute! And yes, there were many times I would pick Cameron up & think that he looked bigger or older! Even now that still happens sometimes. They grow & change too darn fast! I'm glad you guys are settling into a nice routine!
ReplyDeleteSince they transition from class to class with the same kids, she'll form strong bonds with her classmates. Cam has some that he's been with since 4 months old when he started!
And why have children if you're going to dump them in daycare so young!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen you say "school" you really mean daycare. If you are OK with that, then own it.
ReplyDeleteLove the photo collage you put in Tay's crib! Such a good idea. Sounds like she's in great hands - I just loved Alivia's teachers in her newborn room. I still pop in there to say hi. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness time is flying! Lleyton is 9 weeks and growing up too fast. Our nanny starts next week and I'm anxious already. Take care sweet friend. Xxx
ReplyDeleteAnonymous - why are you being so hateful? Not everyone can stay home with their baby and Lauren worked very hard and did a ton of research to find just the right spot for Tay.
ReplyDeleteLauren - I'm glad she's having such a good time and that you're happy with the school you chose.
That headboard is such a cute idea!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous is internet slang for "coward". So fun to see Taylor smiling this weekend!
