14 Week Update

How many weeks? I’m 14 weeks!  According to Baby Center, my baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb.  It’s now the size of a lemon and will grow about an inch this week.  Isn’t that cool?

14

Maternity Clothes?  I definitely need maternity bottoms, but I’m still in the weird phase with shirts.  I need more room in my normal tops, but any small maternity top is still way to big.

How am I feeling?  Pretty bad, actually.  I’m not feeling like myself lately and am all consumed with worry and fear even though all reports on Greenie have been positive.

Doctor’s Appointment? Now that I am going every two weeks, my next ultrasound is next week.  We are hoping to find out the sex of the baby at at appointment.  I’ll announce it on Thanksgiving if all goes as planned.

Workouts?  No :(  I think I’m just going to remove this question from my updates all together…

Sleep?  Can’t get enough of it!

Weight Gain?  5 pounds

Baby Preparation?  We heard the baby’s heart beat on the doppler monitor last night for the first time.  That was exciting!

Likes/Dislikes?  My new favorite foods of the week have been red meat, toasted cinnamon raisin bread, and cereal.  I’ve been disliking tomatoes and ginger ale – weird, I know!

  2. Hey Lauren,
I am a new follower. I am so excited for you and your new little gift! I felt nervous with both of my pregnancies, though both turned out fine. Whenever I felt antsy/worried, I thought about something that I heard *Eliot's mom say one time: "I'll be sad later. I'm going to enjoy every second now." While we may not know what God's plan is, you can allow yourself to enjoy every second now. I hope you can relax a little and enjoy your pregnancy, you deserve it!

  5. you could not be any cuter!!!! you look amazing!

i had a lot of anxiety with B's pregnancy- it's totally normal and does not affect the outcome at all (i know you know that- just wanted to say it anyway)...

it's just hard- and i get that! it's hard to let yourself go to that place of pure joy when you've lost so much...i actually don't even remember a lot of b's pregnancy (thank goodness for my blog!- haha)...so go easy on yourself. (((hugs)))

i can't wait to hear the gender announcement. boy or girl- it's going to be awesome!!! i just want to know! :-)

  6. You look so beautiful! Where's that positive attitude I'm so used to you having? I know it's easy for me to say, but as you know worrying won't make anything better. You'll drive yourself crazy by the time this is all over. You're already doing everything possible to take perfect care of Baby Greenie, and that's all you need to worry about. Hang in there! Love you!

  9. Lauren -

I wanted to share something with you that I saw, and I just felt God nudging me to share it with you!

Judges 7:8-11 says, "Now the camp of Midian lay below him in the valley. During the night the Lord said to Gideon, "Get up, go down against the camp, because I am going to give it into your hands. If you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your servant Purah and listen to what they are saying. Afterward, you will be encouraged to attack the camp."

The author of the book I was reading gave this insight to the phrase "if you are afraid". God didn't chide Gideon for being afraid, rather He anticipated those fears. And instead of dismissing Gideon, He provided a way of encouragement for him. I am grateful that God can anticipate my fears and my disappointments on this journey. And in His compassion, He often brings encouragement despite my weakness.

God knows your fears and your heart!

  10. I know you aren't yourself at the moment, but give yourself a break & just try to relax a bit & enjoy this pregnancy. I can't even imagine the range of emotions you must go through, but just know that you're in SO many people's prayers & we're all rooting for you & Greenie!!

You know I'm always here for you in ANY way that you need, so please just reach out to me & I'll be there for you. (Um, okay, I almost busted out singing the Mariah Carey song as I typed that last part..) Love you, Lauren!!
